History of Gerkin Windows

Gerkin Windows, founded in 1932, began its journey in South Sioux City, Nebraska, as a metal and wood storm doors manufacturer for local clientele. Over the decades, Gerkin has evolved significantly, but the core values of quality craftsmanship and innovation have remained steadfast. Gerkin Windows added additional products with changing technologies and market demands, transitioning to energy-efficient vinyl and aluminum windows. Their dedication to research and development led to several patents and industry accolades, culminating in their recognition as a Nebraska Business of the Year 2023. This prestigious title solidified their reputation as a leader in the window manufacturing industry. Gerkin’s history is a testament to its adaptability and commitment to quality, making it a respected name in the window industry.

Pros of Gerkin Windows

Pro: One of the significant pros of Gerkin Windows is its energy-saving capabilities, exceptional durability, and commendable customer service. I like that they utilize aluminum reinforcement on their vinyl line. As a company, they go for performance and high-quality construction over offering a lot of customization and features, which is excellent practice. I, of course, care about the aesthetics, and their windows look great. Still, I enjoy the company concentrating on durability and performance vs. just design and options. They are manageable with options but include many standard features. The Rhino line has excellent performance for an aluminum window and the modern aesthetics that you expect from aluminum windows.

Cons: First, being a smaller company in the Midwest is not an advantage. They mostly have dealers in the Midwest and West. This is nice because many window manufacturers are located on the East Coast. However, they are smaller companies, and a smaller footprint of dealers leading to getting their products may be a challenge for many folks. Another con of most smaller companies is that the warranty is more concerning for smaller companies. Still, they have a long history, which helps build some faith.

Gerkin Windows offers various window series, including Comfort Series Vinyl Windows, Rhino Series Aluminum Windows, and traditional wood windows, each tailored to meet their customers’ specific aesthetic and functional needs.

Comfort Series

The Comfort Series is engineered to be highly energy efficient, offering vinyl windows that ensure minimal air infiltration and excellent thermal performance.

In addition to their energy-saving benefits, the construction of the Comfort Series windows includes features like multi-chambered frames, double-paned glass, and weatherstripping to enhance insulation further and reduce heat transfer. These elements work together to create a highly efficient barrier against outdoor temperatures, keeping the interior of your home comfortable year-round.

Using vinyl in the windows improves energy efficiency, offers low maintenance requirements, and is durable. Vinyl is resistant to corrosion, peeling, and fading, providing a long-lasting solution that can help you save on replacement and maintenance costs over time.

  • Styles: Available in casement, single-hung, double-hung, picture, and sliding windows

  • Durability: Aluminum-reinforced sash and sill on the double hung, single hung, and sash reinforced on the slider. Aiding in strength and rigidity.
  • Customization: Color options are white, tan, sandstone, and midnight.
