Thompson Creek Windows Review

Today’s review is different than most of my reviews. Let’s review Thompson Window company. A small window company in Maryland does not sell to other companies or dealers. Instead, it has six locations and actors in six states that fall into their terrority. They do have a different approach to—most of the window companies I review. Fred Thompson founded Thompson Creek Window Company in 1980 in Lanham, Maryland. Initially focused on roofing and siding, the company expanded into window manufacturing and installation, which became its primary focus. The company has grown significantly since its inception, becoming one of the leading home improvement companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. Thompson Creek is known for its vertically integrated approach to designing, building, installing, and servicing its windows, ensuring high quality and customer satisfaction.

We will also explore customer reviews of Thompson Creek Windows and provide an overview of the average prices. Stay tuned to learn more about what Thompson Creek has to offer!

These windows are designed to provide excellent thermal insulation, helping to reduce energy costs by keeping heat inside during winter months and out during summer.

These windows often feature multi-chambered frames and double-pane low-E glass, further enhancing their energy efficiency by minimizing heat transfer. Which can contribute to a more comfortable indoor environment and help decrease energy consumption.

Window Features

  1. Energy Efficiency: The Thompson Valley windows feature double-pane glass, optionally with argon gas fills and Low-E coatings. These elements work together to minimize heat transfer, resulting in better insulation and reduced energy costs.
  2. Durable Vinyl Frames: The windows are constructed with high-quality vinyl resistant to warping, cracking, and peeling. The material is also low-maintenance, requiring minimal upkeep over the years.
  3. Custom Fit: Each window in the Thompson Valley series is custom-made to the exact specifications of the homeowner’s existing window openings, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.
  4. Security Features: The windows have multi-point locking systems and reinforced frames to enhance security. Cam-action locks and continuous interlocking rails further improve their safety.
  5. Weather Resistance: Fusion-welded frames and sashes provide excellent resistance against water and air infiltration, ensuring the windows perform well even in harsh weather conditions.
  6. Noise Reduction: Thompson Valley offers a sound shield glass to help reduce outside noise, providing a significantly quieter indoor environment.

Pros

  • Energy Efficiency: The advanced glass and frame technology helps lower energy bills and increase indoor comfort.
  • Durability: The use of high-quality vinyl ensures long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance.
  • Enhanced Security: Multiple locking points and reinforced frames provide increased security.
  • Weather Resistance: Fusion-welded construction offers superior protection against the elements.
  • Noise Reduction: Effective soundproofing features create a quieter home environment.
  • Warranty: 50 Year warranty

Cons

  • Higher Initial Cost: The premium features and custom manufacturing process can make the Thompson Valley series more expensive upfront compared to companies, and they do not perform as well or add anything from basic builder-grade windows
  • Limited Availability: Since Thompson Creek operates primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region, availability might be limited for homeowners outside this region.
  • Basic vinyl windows at a premium price: They do not release much information or specs, and unfortunately, that method only allows consumers to get information from individual salespeople, which is not always the most accurate.
  • Features: Nothing stands out; they do not have reinforcements, they do not disclose the types of spacer they use or anything that differentiates it from any other vinyl window on the market

Customer Reviews of Thompson Creek Windows

Customer reviews of Thompson Creek Windows highlight a mix of positive and negative experiences. Many customers comment on the quality and energy efficiency of the products. At the same time, some express concerns about the installation process and service.

Thompson Creek Ratings & Reviews: Several reviewers mention the exceptional noise reduction capabilities of the windows, which contribute to a peaceful indoor environment.

Unfortunately, I have heard many reports that their sales tactics can be very aggressive and often not the most honest. Of course, that is a problem you can run into with a fair number of dealers because they all have their methods and styles. But in this case, you must choose something other than another dealer to buy Thompson Creek windows since the company owns all the stores.

There are also dissenting voices, particularly on the aspect of customer service. A few customers have criticized delays in responding to service inquiries and the overall communication from the company. This contrast in experiences underscores the importance of thorough research and customer due diligence before purchasing. In conclusion, there is much more on the negative side than the positive side.

How much do  Creek Windows cost ?

The average price for Thompson Creek vinyl windows, including installation, typically ranges from $800 to $1,200 per window. This cost can vary based on factors such as the size and type of window, customization options, and the installation’s specific requirements.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I cannot say anything remarkable about the company or product. I do not see much to prove they are innovating or making a replacement window any different from numerous other run-of-the-mill vinyl replacement windows on the market. I try to find the good in every company, and by no means can I say they are a bad company. But I really cannot recommend them either. There are numerous other vinyl window companies with more history, better technology, and high-grade craftsmanship these days.
