Jeld-Wen Windows Review

Let’s review one of the best-known names and largest window companies on the market today. Almost all of us have at least heard of Jeld-Wen, whether we had experience with their products or just have seen the name. As a company, they have had a fantastic track record for growth and market capitalization.
They are more of a new construction window company than a replacement window company. In my opinion, they need to put more effort or concern into their replacement window branch as a whole. I have heard more bad reports than good, unfortunately. Part of that is also the fact that once companies grow to a certain point, it is much more challenging to control quality and the level of service you can deliver. But I am not saying it’s a bad company or bad windows by any means. It’s not necessarily my first choice for replacement windows.
I will discuss Jeld-Wen’s history, what sets its windows apart from the competition, and the various series it offers, including Siteline® Wood Windows and Premium™ Vinyl Windows.
Explore the pros and cons of Jeld-Wen Windows, read customer reviews, and find average prices for each series. You will Discover if Jeld-Wen is the best choice for your home remodeling needs.
History of Jeld-Wen
Jeld-Wen Windows was founded in 1960 by Richard Wendt in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Initially, the company focused on manufacturing wooden windows and doors, quickly gaining a reputation for quality and craftsmanship.
By the 1970s, Jeld-Wen expanded its operations, acquiring several smaller window and door companies to broaden its product range and geographic reach. This strategy continued through the 1980s and 1990s, making Jeld-Wen one of North America’s largest window and door manufacturers.
In 2011, Jeld-Wen was acquired by the Canadian private equity firm Onex Corporation, which provided the capital for further expansion and modernization. In 2017, Jeld-Wen went public, listing on the New York Stock Exchange, further solidifying its financial foundation.
Today, Jeld-Wen offers various products, including vinyl, wood, and aluminum windows, catering to residential and commercial markets. Jeld-Wen has grown from a small millwork plant to a global enterprise with 120 manufacturing facilities in 19 countries, including a significant presence in Dallas-Fort Worth.
High-Quality Materials
Jeld-Wen windows are crafted from high-quality materials such as AuraLast pine wood, which provides superior durability and protection against rot, termites, and water damage.
Aside from AuraLast pine wood, Jeld-Wen windows also utilize vinyl, aluminum, and hybrid composite material, each offering unique advantages. Vinyl windows are known for their energy efficiency and low maintenance. In contrast, aluminum windows are prized for their strength and slim profiles. Composite windows balance durability and aesthetics, making them versatile for various architectural styles.
The standout feature of AuraLast pine wood lies in its exceptional resistance to decay and pests, ensuring that your windows remain in top condition for years to come. This longevity translates into cost savings over time, as you won’t need frequent repairs or replacements, making AuraLast pine wood a wise investment for homeowners seeking lasting value.

Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency is a hallmark of Jeld-Wen windows, with many products being Energy Star-certified and featuring advanced technologies such as SunStable glass to improve thermal performance.
One key advantage of Jeld-Wen windows is their ability to reduce energy consumption while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment. With their Energy Star certification, these windows meet strict efficiency standards the Environmental Protection Agency sets, ensuring your home stays energy-efficient.
The innovative SunStable glass technology helps regulate internal temperatures by blocking out harmful UV rays and preventing heat loss during colder months. This translates into lower heating and cooling costs, which in turn saves you money and reduces your carbon footprint, contributing to a more sustainable living environment.
Customization Options
By no means is Jeld-Wen my favorite brand, nor is it even close to the top of my choices. But I will give them the benefit of customization. They use a wide array of colors and some unique colors on the upper-end products. The high-end series has good construction and good-looking windows all around. Now, I know looks are only part of the equation here, but they are absolutely an essential element when it comes to windows.
